hey there. well that's wierd that your dr. wouldn't talk about inducing you before the baby got too big instead of just assuming that she's going to do a c section   but my last baby was 9 pound 10 and a half ounces. my dr. hasnt mentioned anything about not wanting to deliver vaginally b/c of her weight. that is wierd. i would really talk to her about that if you are wanting to do a vaginal birth. My cousins baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead and she is due on Halloween day, they are inducing her a week and a half early. so not sure whey your dr. just automatically wants to do a c section. but good luck with the baby

well lets see my first baby was 8lbs then my second was 9lbs 3.5 oz third 10lb 3.5 oz and the fourth one 7lb 143/4 ozand with this pregnancy I am diabetic so there is a chance it will be a big baby but my doctor hasnt said anything about csection with my 10lber the doc said he should have induced me and i had her 3 weeks early with the 4th child they did alot of sonos checking birthweight and I was induced with her to be safe but it was ok just weird that you ob would assume that you want a csection good luck!

Hey!
I've had some big babies I.m 5'3" and not too big. (when i lose weight i wear a small petite)
my first was 7lbs2
second 9lbs 3
third 10lbs 2
fourth 8lbs 8
fifth 9lbs 14
sixth 10lbs 4
seventh 12lbs on the dot.
now im due with number eight..... i think i'm just average size now, so we'll see.
Anywho, i've had all but the first at home with a midwife, no meds, now c-section, and no problems at all!
I haven't had a really fast labor so i've never even torn more than just a little "skid mark" and everything has been fine. It is amazing how your bones soften up so they can move out of the way of the baby!
If you don't like what your dr is saying ask for a second opinion!
If she isn't comfortable with big babies ask her if she knows someone that is. As long as everything looks to be okay before it should be fine!
I am having this one in the hospital though.   I'm getting my tubes tied or otherwise i'll be having babies for the rest of my life!loL!

thanks everyone for the feedback, for everyone that has multiple children i see some of the weights are out of sequence. I say that because my ob said that with each child they will more than likely get bigger and bigger, you guys just proved that theory wrong. there is 2 other dr.'s that im assuming are the head and more experience since the practice is named after them , there is also a midwife. i thought i would be smart and request to see the midwife., so i saw her and told her my concerns. she couldnt understand why the dr. wanted to do a c section. then on my next visit she told me the dr. has had bad experiences with big babies and is not comfortable. i told the midwife about not wanting to have a c section if there are no medical problems so she said she would bring it up to the dr. and to the other doctors. she told me the other week that the head doctors stand behind the dr that wants to do the c section.
for the life of me i cannot understand this at all, i feel like some of my rights have been violated but im running out of time to fight it so ill just see another ob this thurs.
it sucks though because this dr. is further from my house and the hospital that the dr delivers at is further also.
thank you everyone i was going to give up but my hubby said he dosent want me to do something that is not neccessary and that im being forced to do.

Littlede8 my mom was the same way she had 11 and around 8 was born at home.

So I went to my dr. yesterday for a checkup. I asked him that since I previously delivered a 9 lb 15 oz baby if that was going to mean I need a c-section. He said that all doctor's are different. But in his opinion, if you have pushed out a baby that big, your body will easily be able to do it again (even up to 2 pounds bigger!) He said that once you have been through that, you have a "proven birthing pelvis". So, unless for medical reasons (breech, etc.), I won't be having a c-section! YAY!!

Its your legal right to refuse medical procedures. Tell them you don't care if they are not comfortable with it and its your body and your choice. If your doctor continues to say that they are not comfortable with it flat out tell them then you want a doctor who is because you will NOT have a c-section unless its for emergency reasons. You are the one who needs to be comfortable and that doctor should even be a doctor if they can't handle delivery vaginallly. I know it may be late in the game but call other doctors and explain what they are trying to force you to do until one of them tells you they will do different and then switch to them. You might even find a closer doctor that way.

hey everyone back from second dr app. First when i went to my original dr this morning, the midwife basically told me the deal was that the dr didnt feel comfortable delivering me vaginal end of story. The head dr. wouldnt take me on as a patient either.

well i explain the situation with the second dr and told her if they sgave me a reason why the c-sect is need then it wouldnt be a problem but i just want to be able to have some kind of communication with the person that has my life and my baby's life in their hands. The dr went as far as drawing a picture of worst case scenerios. if the baby has a hard time coming out the would have to cut me from my hooha to my anus(ick) or crash c-section. But she said considering all my babies were big and born vaginal and that i measuring on schedule and baby dosent appear to be big then that would be worse case. In the meantime i have an u/s on the 8th to see how much the baby weighs and an appointment on the 11th. she said that the guidelines are that if the u/s hows baby's weight is 500 or more grams wich is around 10lbs depending on mothers weight then they would generally do a c-section. But she told me she would never tell me i have to have a c-section without considering other options.

even if i have to have a c-sect i feel more comfortable with this dr. because she explains everything

That's great!! I am glad that you found another doctor that actually explains stuff to you. Of course there is always a worst case scenario, but at least she is giving you other options.
