So last night was a little different for me & niyah...she never co-sleeps with me she sleeps in her own bed and when i have to get up and feed her she goes right back into bed after her feeding, well last night i was super tired so i fed her and instead of putting her back in her own bed i just layed her next to me and put her blanket on her and i went back to sleep...well i have a down feather comforter (which is heavy) that i use for myself right...well about an hour later after we fell asleep i hear her gasp for air which immediatly woke me up in a panick, but i didnt see her...i threw my comforter off the bed and somehow she scooted down under my comforter and the damn heavy ass thing was on top of her face!!!!!! OMG i freaked out...i could have suffocated her or something...i mean the thing was over her face and she gasped for air...i swear to god i have never been freaked out like that again...my stomach is hurting right now just thinking of what "could have" happened. thank god i woke up to her gasping for air and threw the f-ing blanket off of her.
wow!!! NEVER again will i co-sleep...that was the first & last time i ever did it.

God girl,
that scared the crap out of me just reading it!
I've been scared to sleep with Dalton in the bed with me too, the most we've done is taken a little "nap" on the bed during the day.
Glad everything is ok, and your "mommy radar" went off!
Don't beat yourself up over it, you woke up and everything is ok!

omg i am so glad you caught it!!! i'm petrified of having her sleep in the bed with me when i am sleeping. even more so now!

Wow , Good thing you woke up mama! I know that in the hospital I gave birth they would not let anyone co-sleep even for a nap with their babies, they said that there are allot more infant deaths caused by co-sleeping then we would normally think of. That's just scary!

wow that is scary! Thank God you woke up. I had something happen to me last night too, with my baby... that I am to ashamed to post, I feel like such a jerk... but I wanted to tell you, its good that you learned that, and that your baby is okay... I learned my lesson last night too. Thank God my baby is okay as well.
but I just wanted to say, you are not the only one who has done something like that. I hope you are not beating yourself up for it... I know I am beating myself up, I am trying not to, and I appreciate your braveness to post what happened to you to help people learn from it.... it helped me a lot.
I am so happy our babies are okay! Praise God!!
Thank you!

My biggest fear with co-sleeping is that she will roll off the bed...she's all over the place when she sleeps. We do on occasion, but only when she is sick because that is when she will let me cuddle her so I know where she is lol. Otherwise, we don't. We both like our space lol.
Good think you caught it though! Mom's have a sixth sense it seems

WOW! That's REALLY scary!
Scarlett and I coslept on the couch until she was 2 weeks old. I didn't want her in the bed because of the blankets and stuff, but then one night I woke up and she had her face pushed right up against my shirt. She could still breathe, but I moved her away from me a little. But even then I couldn't fall asleep again because I was terrified she'd smother herself in my chest!! So ever since then she's been in her crib and I've been in our bed. It's a good arrangement and I'll never go back.

oh no, that would have scared me too. this morning when i went to check on stevie, he had managed to pull his blanket over his head, its light, and i swaddle him in it, and usually he is fine, but when i pulled it off of his face in a panick, it woke him up, and kind of pissed him off, hahaha oops, at least he was ok!

I think having heavy blankets around is the greatest danger; if you get rid of the comforter it shouldn't be that dangerous. I also fell asleep with my baby one time, but he was essentially on top of me so I don't think he was in any danger.

I refuse to co-sleep for that very reason. I am even terrified of her suffocating in her own bassinet with her blanket.

Aww.. jennuhpher I would have to say that I think you have someone watching over you. There's so many others that have been in that situation, and ended badly. Count your blessings my dear, I'm sure you already have!
