My high schools heatlh class focused more on drug and alcohol abuse and eating disorders than pregnancy. It was a 1/2 year class. Here in Utah they are only allowed to teach abstinence and my parents had to sign a permission form for that. I took child development as one of my electives though and they go into full detail about pregnancy and labor. I totally forgot about the bleeding part. We had to take home dolls for a weekend that had schedules where they would cry and you'd have to change their diaper, feed them burp them, rock them. It was a great experience to know what having a newborn was like.

Fortunately my mother and I were very close and she told me to use protection when I started having sex and the risks if i didn't.

Sorry, I couldn't go through all 10 pages of these posts. Some of them were really long. Haha. I know when I had my first daughter I overpacked by a lot. As a first time mom and a young one...I just followed the list the hospital gave me and I mean I had stuff in there I never even touch. Let alone, I felt ridiculous bringing my suitcase and my pillow to the hospital for my induction. This time, I plan to underpack...hopefully. I'm one of these girls that brings her bedroom with her when she stays the night someplace. But I plan on bringning my Pillow for sure, loose fitting clothes to go home in like sweats, a couple of outfits for the baby. One for the Pic, and one to go home in for sure. (Most hospitals do provide some clothing for the baby) Pads...although the hospital does provide those as well. I'm going to use the nightgowns they lend to you...because there easier to nurse in. Toiletries, Camera, (hopefully my laptop), a book in case I get induced again. My pregnancy Organizer/journal, a creme for my nipples for breastfeeding, car seat, maybe the boppy, diaperbag, a backpack full of clothes and toiletries for my husband. Hopefully most of you have the kind of hospital where your husband can stay with you as much as he wants. At mine, we have private suites. Recieving blankets, socks for my feet and flip flops for when I leave...I swelled up after I gave birth and shoes were not the most comfy thing. I still have a ways to go before I need to pack...but I plan on packing in case of the unexpected by the end of June. I'm going to wait till after my baby shower. Haha. I think that's it though. Oh, and I guess I'll also need to pack a bag for my daughter too. I'm sure she'll stay with one of the grandparents while I'm in the hospital.

i brought chapstick, going home outfit for me and the baby, outfit for newborn pics, clothes for the baby during the day, i used their gowns at night, breast pads, slippers, nursing bra ( if needed), lotion, baby brush (in case), CLIPPERS ( they have long nails at birth), and shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc and the carseat....just use their nightgowns and robes..you will bleed a lot and sometimes it can get on clothes....they usually provide diapers, pads and wipes...

I think my number one thing is going to be my MP3 player. I'm one of those people that needs music like all the time and it's about the only thing that calms or relaxes me so it should come in quite handy as things are going on...
I'm also going to definitely have comfy socks... hospital socks suck and there's not much worse than cold feet when your already trying to sleep in a creepy place while in pain... I'm told the simple things tend to be what matters most!

Everyone has mentioned to bring a set of going home clothes for mommy...Im not sure what size to pack for that. Any suggestions or general ideas? Ive heard you're around the size you were at 5/6 months. Does this seem correct?
Thanks all!

I just bring sweat pants. Make sure they have an elastic waist so you can breathe a little bit. I would just bring the most comfortable thing you can find. All my pre-pregnancy sweat pants I can still fit into just fine. You might was a t-shirt or something because trust me you won't be walking out with a tight little tummy you had before you got pregnant. The skin will be loose and stretched out and will slowly become more tight...especially if you plan on nursing since that makes the Uterus shrink back to it's normal size faster. Sooo, basically if you have clothes that you would of normally vegged out in when you were sick with a cold or whatever, bring those.

I don't know about other hospitals, but the one I delivered at had a breast pump for me. That thing was OLD but it had amazing suction. I think I bled every time.

I think the nursery will cut the nails for you if you forget to bring baby nail clippers! I brought my MP3 player but I didn't use it once. Some people need music to relax but I didn't even think about it.

No Problem. I had no clue the first time I was pregnant. I brought like two bags for myself and my pillow. Haha. I won't be doing that again. I think all the nurses thought I was moving in.
