I got most of this stuff from the hospital. Nightgown couldn't wear beause they gave me those things that you tie in back. Then couldn't wear underwear, had to undress all the way. Once the baby was heere, they gave me maxy pads and stretchy underwear. Couldn't eat, so didn't take any food. I think when I went to the hospital, I didn't have anything with me. When we were ready toget discharged from the hospital, my husband went home and got a few things and that was it. Oh, very important thing. The hospital I was at was pretty cold for the baby., They didn't have any socks this small, so I had hubby bring some of the socks I had bought. Of course, you already have the outfit for the baby and the clothes you wore ont he way to the hospital. That's what i did. and yes, toiletries, very important. the hospital provided everything else.

Im one of those girls and im only 16, of course im not going to know. I knew i was going to bleed but i didnt think it would be right after. I understand that your hormones are getting you, but you have to think of the young girls who are going to be a little ill informed. And it did come off pretty bitchy and i think it was kind of rude of you. Cause it seemed like you were trying to put us down and make us feel stupid.

that's what I just thought when reading all the posts. It's common sense that you will be bleeding a while after delivering. i had a c-section and still bled for 3 weeks afterwards.

Thank you. I swear I wasn't trying to be bitchy! I mean even those that are on here that are 15 and 16... they had to have had sex ed in high school... and if they weren't informed, I'm not faulting them, I am aggrivated with our education system. But at least this site can give them the proper information to these young misinformed teenage mothers.

Hopefully it will help them learn many new things that they didn't know. But seriously, what DO they teach them in school?
I have a 16 year old sister, I'm going to ask her. It's very disappointing, because there are these girls that unfortunately are pregnant this early, they should know more about what happens next.

i know. i'm 16 and in my high school they only give you 1/2 a year of health class and they mostly cover AIDS and drugs. they don't focus on importent things that we need to know like pregnancy and everything. i learned the hard why. but thanks to everyone on this site and my friends i think i'll be able to manage.

Our school only covered abstinence. No condoms, no birth control.. just abstinence. It wasn't until I took a child development course my sophomore year (elective) that I learned about a condom or birth control from my school. Then of course, we covered all the pregnancy stuff... I even had to wear the fake belly! LOL O dear lord, and then we had to carry around baby dolls filled with 10 lbs of flour... and my lucky ass got stuck with twins... cruel joke! Anyway, that class needs to be mandatory! I'm glad they can learn from here though!

hang in there and you'll be fine. It will be hard but don't give up. One day when your baby is all grown, you'll give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done.

My schools health class doesn't teach us anything about pregnancy, it should cause a lot of girls at my school are getting pregnant. It taught us about drugs, STDs, alcohol, all that stuff. and they dont even offer any pregnancy classes as electives. so i had to go through my guidance counselor to find a group that i would have to leave school for every tuesday. and i dont think our school is ever planning on getting a class to help inform teen girls about pregnancy, just about how not to get pregnant.

that's sad. You would think that they would start a class like that when seeing that girls actually do get pregnant. Some schools are so in denial, it's ridiculous.

My school is in denial about alot of things that go on. they don't see the fights, the drug deals, or (most importantly) the many girls walking around pregnant and alone. since we had no one to teach us what is happening to our bodys many of them freak out. i can't tell how many girls i've seen go looking for a fight just to get punched in the stomach because they don't want to face the reality of life. when i found out about my baby i went straight to the principal and told her. all she did was stare at me and say "oh, its going to be ok." thats it. nothing else. i felt so betrayed.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear all of that. I believe it too. How would you know how to deal with something so foreign when there is no one to turn to...
Well, I'm here if you need me. I have a sister who's 16 and I can never imagine what it would be like if she went through something like this, but I'll do my best to help, if you need it.

I think my school would never want to start a class like that cause they are in denial about it too most likely. 3 of my close friends have kids already and all are my age, 16. But my schools all about its image and god knows having a class like that would, god forbid, take down their image. Luckily at my school my counselor, who i've known for a while, helped me find these classes that i can go to that help educate me, but if i didnt have him to help me, i would have no one. I wouldnt even go tell my principal cause he would probably just stare at me.

I actually want to talk to the principal at the Jr. high here in town and ask if I can speak to the health class students about teen pregnancy.
I think education is the key and we weren't really taught about it so I feel like maybe I can make the difference and keep some teens from having unprotected sex. They are going to have sex but at least using protection is better then nothing right?
