Hot water bottle for lower back pain and a face cloth to be rinsed under cold water for your forhead is always handy as some mothers get very very hot during labour, usually follwed by the chills.
also wear socks as most ladies get chilly feet
healthy snacks are good during labour, and remember not to let yourself be bossed around too much! your in a fragile state in labour so if you want to eat a mars bar and the midwifes say no,do it if YOU want too,its your body

you go girl! if they tell you of in the hospital, dont listen to them! alot of people specially young mums or people very high on ther pain relief lol get bossed about and told what to do but its VERY important that your the boss and in controll of your own birth, also dont forget to go to the toilet! i know alot of people tend to forget to go or dont feel they need to go but its best to try to go at regular intervels   x

the hospital provides heat pads, i don't think you need to bring a hot water bottle that's just extra and unneeded stuff to add to the list. as well, a cloth of cold water could also be provided by the hospital

again thats something that differs between hospitals so please dont make the assumption that ALL do it just because yours does it. mine dont provide actual cloths, its jsut thick paper towels. And i dont know of nay hospitals that provide hot water bottles because of the risk of leaking...they might provide heat packs though.

And some people prefer to use their own stuff, labor is a hard process and something that is worse if done in a completely unfamiliar environment. its nice to ahve your own personal things from home to make you feel comfortable.

couple days before my due date i packed my sons bag up, but i never packed a bag for myself... i knew the hospital i was staying @ was really good about providing everything and plus i didn't know how long i was gonna be in labor + you stay 48 hours as a new mom so my SO went home and got what we needed.

That's interesting, the hospital that I delivered at provided all of the receiving blankets, formula, diapers, and wipes that were needed in the hospital. AND, my son had to stay in the Nursery for 10 days, theytold us that they provided the clothing too because it was too difficult to keep track of the baby's items.
If your hospital provides it, it would save a couple dollars to just use their supplies...

sadly some hospitals dont. Mine doesnt, they told me that if she was early(i was high risk) and i had a preemie they would supply the 1st days worth of nappies but that was it. I'm with public health insurance though so we get the bare minimum.

By recieveing blanket it usually means the blanket to wrap them in to take home. Not the blankets that you use in hospital, majority of hospitals provide blankets to wrap bub in whilke you are there, but you will most likely need your own to take them home.

That's what I did. Ibled through my undies so I used the hospital undies and gownthey provided. It beats having to bring home soiled clolthes. I did bring an outfit to wear home. This time I plan on bringing pj's to wear during the day. Just 10 more weeks to go and I think I have everything packed except toiletries.
