re: Hospital Bag!

posted 7th May
Haha, same here. It was such a pain. I plan on packing everything earlier than I probably should. That way I can re pack and downsize a hundred times if I need to so that I get it right. Heehee.

I loved the toilet paper at my hospital! I wonder if they give extra cushy stuff to PP women.

This will be my fourth so i thought i would add my two cents on what I actually used LOL

1. Going home clothes for me.
2. Going home outfit for the baby, extras if you are stopping anywhere. We will have to stop to pick up the older kids. With my daughter, stopping to pick up her brothers turned into a 3 hour stop.
3. Infant car seat - they will not let you leave without it.
4. Personal items to take a shower. Trust me, you WILL need these. I took a shower in the middle of labor with my daughter to help with pain, and then again after she was born.
5. A few extra baby blankets.
6. Some thing to keep you busy. A book, laptop, puzzle books, something. With all three, there were HOURS that were boring. I was induced with the first at 9am, he was born at 2..... The second, my water broke at 2 am, he was born at 9 am. The third was induced at 10 am and she was born at 6 pm. I actually went back to sleep with the second, but was pretty bored waiting for the other two.....

All three were born at different hospitals and they all three provided pretty much the same things....
For the baby:
1. Diapers and everything needed to change them for at least the first day
2. Pacifier
3. A couple for changes of either t-shirts or sleepers
4. A hat
5. A couple of blankets
6. Nose sucker
7. Individual bottles of formula and nipples. If you are breastfeeding, they have them on hand just in case. They also give you extra to take home.
8. Most also have a small diaper bag of samples, sometimes a couple of different ones.
Remember that they load the little bassinet cart with tons of stuff for you to use for the little one. I was going to leave it with my first and was told to take it, if you don't they have to throw it, because they are not supposed to reuse it.

For You:
1. Gowns
2. Non-Slip socks
3. Pads - You will get a large package.
4. These streatchy underwear (or so they call it) that is disposable. Keeps you from staining your own when you are bleeding heavy right after birth.

Hope this helps!

I actually made a list and posted it in my room of the things I needed to pack-our stuff has been packed for the last 2 weeks. But the hospitals in Jersey provide everything -only thing I need of my own is my nuring bra and outfits....and I personally wanna bring my own pads. I never thought of my laptop or my baby book(thanks) but everything else is packed.

I'm so glad I brought my baby book! At night when I couldn't sleep, or when I just wanted something to do, I wrote my whole labor story in it and started filling it out.
