Phimosis (tight foreskin) - toddler

Anyone have any experience w/ this?
My son is uncircumcised & recently developed an infection - we took him to his doctor, who referred us to a Urologist. He checked out my son, diagnosed phimosis, and gave us a prescription for antibiotics to clear up the infection.
We go back on Monday for him to check if it's cleared up, but he also mentioned that we're probably going to have to circumcise -- which we don't want to do.
I've googled it, and it sounds like that may be an "old-school" answer.
Have any other moms out there dealt w/ this? If so, how did you handle it?
If you did circumcise, how traumatic was it for your son?

My son slept through his, it healed in a week and he was fine.

my friends little brother was circumsized when he was like 6... he seemed ok... he got to run around butt naked for like a week...

We also circumcised, and he was just fine.
His also healed within a few days to a week.

My oldest was asleep before they started as stayed asleep,, and was fine after
My 2nd was awake the whole time and just sucked away on his binky.
They were both numbed and I was lucky enough to be in the room with them.. But I didn't look because I would've passed out lol.

Your son's foreskin is SUPPOSED to be fused to the glans.

Did you guys circ b/c of phimosis, or was it just routine circumcision?

His foreskin can be fused to his glans until he's 18, and it's still NORMAL and NOT phimosis.

That's what I'm reading on google -- which, I know, is no substitute for "real" medical advice.
I just don't want to circ if it isn't necessary.
My husband is not - but he also said he doesn't remember having infections.
My son doesn't have trouble peeing, which it sounds like it a symptom of true phimosis. The hole is about the size of a pea right now -- is that what it should be?

We did it after he was born. I didnt realized you were asking mommas who had circumcised because of phimosis, lol. Im sorry..

I did it for my reasons, but if you dont want to circumcise your son, im sure there are other ways to heal it?

Yes! It's perfectly normal! Tell them you will wait and see on the circ. If his skin tears when he gets an erection AFTER puberty, then you will try steroid treatments FIRST.
