OT- How long does it take...

for a broken toe to heal? I broke my toes tonight when I slipped on the stairs...I caught myself but smacked my toe really hard against the step...poor toe...lol it could just be sprained but, we're thinking broken...either way there wasn't any point in taking my baby into a dirty icky ER for hrs for something they wouldn't do anything for anyway...heh My Dad says his toes took a few weeks to heal when he broke them...so, anyone else ever brake a toe and how long did it take to heal?
And anyone have any good ideas for immobilizing my big toe other than just using masking tape and taping it to my other toe? heh
Thanks ladies.

I broke my two toes about three weeks ago getting up to feed the baby...Damn night light was out..
anyway there are just now starting to feel better. I soak them in Epsom salt and yes I taped them together...only I put a Ice Pop stick between them to stop them from bending. That's about all you can do!!!
Hope it feels better soon!!

I had surgery on my pinky toes. They wrapped it in that sticky gauze stuff (colorful) Umm... it took a few weeks for it to heal, but then again mine was surgerical

ahh sigh...I knew there wasn't much...this sucks because it sounds like I'll still be healing when we leave for CA....flying with an 8 month old and a broken toe..grr...
I had to wrap my toes up in an ace bandage in the middle of the night...Kit woke up at two, but went back to sleep on her own, and when I tried hobbling down the hall to get to her it hurt so bad again...maybe I should have been still elevating it...heh...anyway, thank you ladies.

oh and by the way, once you break it you will continue to kick things like the wall, bed, tables, etc...... i dont know what it is but it seems like once its injured you keep on kicking things, so becareful, murphy's law i guess

I am such a klutz when it comes to my feet and I can't tell you how many times I have wreaked havoc on my poor toes! I can't really remember how long it takes to heal. Unfortunately, the only way I know to keep from moving your toe and to give it some support is to tape it to your other toes, and then maybe wrap your foot in an ace bandage. It is going to hurt to wear shoes for awhile!!

a jar of strawberry-rhubarb broke my big toe. that was in february, and just recently when i felt it i could tell it healed. it takes awhile i think. but also depends on the break. i think mine was just a minor break or a hairline, but i couldnt bend my big toe for about 6 months.

I've broken all ten of my toes, and everyone's right. Just tape them together, keep them elevated as much as possible (yeah right, huh?), and be very careful. Last time, I actually borrowed my boyfriend's shoes, stuffed socks in the toes, and wore those around the house so I wouldn't stub them again. It was awkward, but it worked. It's always taken 2-3 weeks to heal.

Norcal, we're going to CA for my parents 25th anniversary, and we'll also get to be there for my nephew Tristans 1st birthday party. Woo. ^_^
well damn...it currently is taped to my other toe...and it's doing ok again since I propped my foot up and put ice on it while Kit was taking a nap...I didn't prop it up last night when I went to bed and when I woke up at 3 it was just sooo painful...lol So yeah, keeping it up appears to be a good idea. I can do the ace bandage for a little while...the problem with ace bandages around my foot is I have chronic tendonitus in both my feet....and the bandage aggravates it.. stupid feet.....lol
