Christmas presents...!

posted 20th Sep '07
I know, I know.. its early... Or is it ever too early for christmas shopping? ;) Hard to say I know... But considering Ive never had an infant at Christmas time, in addition to potentially being nice and poor, I thought Id start shopping early, or preparing to shop early!

So my daughter will be nearly 5 months old by Christmas... (about 4 months, 3 weeks approx) and while I have no intention of spoiling her rotten (as if she isnt already via Nana tbh... atleast clothes wise!) as it isnt like she is even going to remember it, or appreciate it, or think Santa loves her extra special like.... I do want to give my daughter a nice christmas, and most likely stick mainly to toys (as she has tons of clothes already for up to 9 months so far..)... And considering she will be so close to that 6 month mark, I suppose I was going to go with alot of the 6month and up toys...

So my question is, what toys do you plan on getting your infant for Christmas? (Or what toys did you get your infant that they really enjoyed and didnt totally break the bank?)

For instance, Im going to get her a ring stacker, and some sort of shape sorter, and possibly that little chatty phone thing that I had when I was a little girl that they still sell... But what other toys make good christmas presents?

I think you said it best when babies won't really remember their 1st Christmas.

Me & my hubby decided this year not to get each other anything for Christmas this year and just make it about the KIDS since we now have THREE!! I was probably going to get Cheyenne a ring stacker, shape sorter, maybe a couple little baby dolls that are age appropriate, and some baby story books. I could probably get away with spending maybe $50 on her this year! It's when they get older that they get more expensive!! lol

Yeah I know what you mean! I was always hard pressed to think of anything I wanted for Christmas when asked before I had Alex, now that I do... My mother asked me what I wanted and all I could think of was for Alex to have a good christmas.. Though again, she isnt going to remember it! I just want a nice presentation for say, pictures, figuring atleast down the line she can look at them and know (ofc but still..) that we loved her and tried to give her a nice Christmas...

I figure if I start now, I can pick up a toy here and there for say 10$ or under and have a bit of a head start.... The old style ring stacker is I think under 7$, as is the phone, and a shape sorter, well I dont know...

I really like those blocks they have out now that are clear, with the little things in them? They have an alphabet set that I thought was cute for like 22$ or something similar at Babies R' Us..

I cant think of what other toys would be appropriate or fun or whatnot though :S

Ill also add that Im thinking about this now as I just figured out in November we will get an extra check, therefore thats a few hundred dollars that can go directly to christmas only... So Im a planner

Thats a great idea!

Usually what Bri and I do is we combine bday and xmas gift.. well since my bday is at the end of November it makes sense for me. His bday is in Feb. and we get each other one thing.

this xmas we will get our baby one gift

p.s. I was at babies 'r' us today and there are a lot of toys at the discount /sale section. I got a few for my baby...

I want to get Julia some books (she already has a head start! Some little golden books, 3 bears, and Winnie the pooh with the older style illustrations! *omg so precious!*), I want to make her at least one thing every christmas.... a few things... someone gave her a ring stacker and a few other toys at the shower, so... I don't know. I'll just have to see. I doubt we'd be able to afford too much, to tell you the truth... so it probably *would* be a good idea to go ahead and buy a few things.

(and I personally... DO want something for "myself" for christmas. A nicer digital camera to take pictures of my angel.  )

I'll be retarded and buy too much stuff like I did for my son. But the majority of it will probably be toys. My son really started getting was Christmas was when he was about 3.

Kaylee is goign to get a convertable carseat (by that time she will be sitting up on her own and be getting close if not over the size for the infant carrier) shes either goign to get her bumbo before then if not then and she might get a jumperoo and little 3+ month toys..

this year im gonnaa get alot of her stuff on lay a way at kmart and make payments so its not a big chunk of change at once (you make payments every 2 weeks for 2 months) so it will be like 30 or 40 bucks every 2 weeks for everything.. but i told my mom and everyone in my family.. instead of getting me anything (i dont need much anymore in life i really dont care about how i look and being up to date) so instead of getting me stuff get her stuff that way i save money

Are you referring to Peek-a-blocks? Lord, I have a TON of those things I saved from when my son was a baby, who is now 4 and no longer plays with them. I have them in a huge bag just waiting for Cheyenne to get old enough. I also have the Peek-a-blocks wagon that has all sorts of slots to put them in and pull them around the house. I sold a lot of my boys' toys (before a 3rd baby was ever thought of, lol), but I did hang on to some of them. I still have some baby rattles, the peek-a-blocks, a rocky-sheep, one of those baby symphony pianos they can lay under and kick, and a baby walker that she can walk behind and push and it will make noises and light up, a puppy phone, a baby Leap Frog toy, a long plush caterpillar that squeaks and rattles, so she was born with a lot of stuff to play with  ).

I may get her some story books and some Baby Einstein DVDs (another idea for you!).
