Movements of a breech baby?

posted 20th Sep '07
Hello- I had a dr. appt yesterday and she thinks that the baby might be breech. Right now I am 35wks and 1day. She said we will wait to see until next week and if she still is not 100% sure on the postition then she will send me for an ultra sound to see. I wanted to know for those ladies who are carrying breech or who have had breech prior preg. what did/do your movements feel like? Can you tell yourself if the baby is breech? I tried to "feel" for body parts last night but could tell nothing? All of my movements seem to be on the right side sometimes in the middle and sometimes down lower in my abdomen. I have more than the occasional bladder kick and some that send a feeling not really a pain into my woo-hoo (cervix maybe?). This is my first so and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance - Erica

Most of Max's movements were very low. I hardly ever felt anything up by my ribs or really even too much above my belly button. He kicked a whole lot more than punching. I knew by 34 weeks that Max was breech, honestly if you think you baby is, he probably is. I had to bring it up to 3 doctors before one of them finally really looked at me and said, "hm, I think you are right."

Feel up underneath your breasts at the top of your stomach. If you feel a hard ball, that's probably your baby's head.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will try again tonight to feel for his head. It is kind of hard I have a little um shall we say extra padding keeping him well hidden   I do feel more kicks/punches lower and more rolling near my belly button?? Oh well I am sure I will just have to wait until next wednesday to see for sure.

Thanks again.

Ps - Forgot to mention that the dr. is guessing on a 9+lb baby, I would think at 35wks I would be able to feel more up at the ribs?? Just a side note.

Oh I have that extra padding too, lol. Your baby might be transverse, laying sideways. If it turns out he is breech, try http://www.spinningbabies.com. They have some exercises there that might help get him to flip. They didn't work for me, but lots of women swear by it.

I'm 32 weeks, 33 tomorrow, and my baby is breech. My movements sound alot like yours. At my last sonogram, only a week ago, her head was up by my belly button, her back on my left side and her butt down in my pelvis. She's sitting really low because my placenta is low. Almost all of my movement is on my right side too. She pushes on my right hip and I can feel little arms and legs trying to come out of my right side, especially if I'm laying on my right side. It actually makes me jump sometimes. I haven't gained much weight, only 10 pounds, so I can usually feel her head around my belly button. Sometimes it feels like she gets into a more transverse postion, but she always ends up back with her head up high. I'm in my 8th month and she has yet to even touch my ribs, which might no be a bad thing. LOL I hear it sucks. Good luck

Hey, I have the exact same movements! I'm 36 weeks now and can constantly feel a hard ball at the top of my uterus and keep getting jabbing in my sides and one of his limbs always gets stuck in my right hip or he uses it to push himself up lol does that sound like a breech position?? My midwife said last time she felt him that he could be breech, so she wants to do exactly what she's told you, feel for him one last time at my next appointment then send me for a scan. It's so frustrating not knowing which way up they are tbh. xx
