Zooper Salsa Umbrella Stroller?
posted 23rd Jun '06
Hi-
I don't see any reviews on the 2006 Zooper Salsa -- looks really convenient and nice for very hot weather (mesh fabric). Anyone have this?
I'm looking for a very lightweight won't-break-the-bank umbrella stroller that would work for either my 6 mo old or my 2 1/2 year old, that will also stow amongst luggage in the back of our Subaru Outback wagon for a looooong road trip.

There are several reviews on Target's website. Looks like a nice lightweight stroller.

I don't know if anyone is watching this thread, but just FYI, I ended up buying it. I LOVE it!
The mesh seat material is cool and comfortable, and it came with an extra removeable, washable seat pad (if you are looking at this stroller, make sure your vendor includes this pad...I am not sure all sellers do...not all websites list it in the features).
It is very lightweight, yet feels sturdy and substantial. I think for the money, it is a good buy. I really love the fact that it comes with nice accessories. The only other umbrella in the running with the Maclaren right above the Volo in price-point (so I could provide some reclining for my girlies), but it was almost 70% more money. I guess only time will tell.

Okay, I'm not quite as happy with it as I was when we left. I think I will downgrade it to an "okay" from a "great."
The hood popping-off when you fold the stroller started to bug me. I e-mailed Zooper and (wonderful) customer service mailed me back right away -- it is designed to do that. (It doesn't state this in the supporting literature.)
The seat liner constantly slides down and bunches, and pops off of the bottom. There's no way to attach it at the top -- I have thought about buying double-stick velcro and attaching it myself.
Steering my 20+ pound 8 month old was okay; steering my 30+ pound 2 1/2 year old was tough. Forget one-handed steering. It doesn't happen -- even on smooth-as-ice mall tile.
Finally, a manufacturing defect was found. I haven't contacted Zooper about it yet. My then-7 month old liked the more-reclined position, so I never had it fully upright. Now she wants to sit up. I went to snap the seat upright and both of the snaps are defective! They are ovular, not round! My strong husband couldn't even get them to snap! We'll probably take it to a local repair facility -- maybe even an industrial sewer and have it fixed locally. I don't know if I would ship it back at this point.
I'm wishing now that I HAD bought the Volo -- even without the extras...

I bought the Zooper Hula and initially LOVED it then after a month i had to send it back because the mechanism to hold it open kept folding and then i had the SAME problem with the sun shade. Each of these problems was handled really well with thier kind customer service - but i don't want to have to call! I want a maclaren now, should have just bought it in the first place too!
