Good luck Mama, have they given you steroids to help the baby's lungs? Please feel free to ask anything

good, I think those are so important, they did wonders for my 35 weeker, she actually got pneumonia because she got stuck in the birth canal and inhaled amniotic fluid, and she needed no breathing assistance at all, and my 27 weeker had them as well, and she was only on the ventilator for 8 hours, always breathing above it, and I think that had a lot to do with the steroids.

my baby girl will be 1 3 weeks from tomorrow. I can't wait to go to the NICU and show her off and cant wait to go on March 12 the day that she's been home for a yr. I want to do something special for the NICU. Not 100% sure what yet but going to do cake and something with a 31 bag.

I am so glad that I found this sight it's nice to talk to people that know what your going through on some levels...I felt so alone with this process. Hi im Caitlin I had boy/girl twins three months ago. They were born at 33 weeks. My daughter had to be on the CPAP for a few days and they both had breathing tubes and feeding tubes for several weeks...it was so unbelievably hard on me...they were there for a month and a half. My son got to come home first then a couple weeks later my daughter came home! It was really hard since I also have a three year old so it was hard for me to get up to the hospital to see the babies. I didn't have a car or a baby sitter...but luckily they are now both home with me! I'm so glad that part was over and now on with these beautiful babies ;) now we have different worried than them getting out of the hospital. Having preemies is alot different and I constantly worry about my babies and I always have questions.

Hey! Just gave birth to a 30 weeker Friday Feb. 1st
http://forum.baby-gaga.com/about2442030.html
That's my labor story and pics ^

So, how the hell do you get through the NICU stay? So far I've been "hoteling" at the hospital but I've already had to change rooms twice to accommodate actual pregnant/ laboring women and tomorrow is the last night I'll possibly be able to stay. I haven't even seen my almost 3 yr old in days because he's not allowed in the hospital and I don't have time to leave between trying to rest from giving birth, pumping, and visiting my son in the NICU.
Now my older son is sick and I have to go home and stay with him all day tomorrow. I rented a pump today so I can pump at home, but the other day DH brought me to get something to eat about 10 minutes away. We were only gone for 1/2 hr and I was sooooo tense I just wanted to get back to the hospital. Idk how I'm going to be away all day tomorrow.
On top of all that, I'm exhausted, in pain, not eating or drinking enough, stressing wayyyy too much. I was having trouble breathing today(and I'm very skinny) and I was sweating my ass off doing nothing. There were a few hours I thought I had a fever because of how crappy I felt.
I will get soooo hungry, go to get something to eat, take one bite, and completely lose my appetite to the point where if I try to force myself to eat more I feel like I'm going to throw up.
I was also crying all night last night and all day today for no reason. I really really hope I'm not getting PPD
I'm so tired but I just can't sleep because I'm too stressed. When I do fall asleep I sleep right through my alarms and go like 5-6 hrs without pumping.
Once I have to leave here, I'll be able to come from about 11:30am to 4:30pm and then I'll come back around 8pm and probably stay until around midnight-1am. Then I'll go home and probably have to get up between 7am and 8am with my son, and with pumping inbetween that sleep too. I'll drop DH off at work at 8:30am, DS off at daycare at 11am, go to the hospital, stay until I have to get DS at 5pm, get DH at 7pm, bring them home and go to the hospital.
Does that sound like a good schedule?

Good thing is I'll have the pump I'm renting at home, and I'll also have a pump I can keep at the NICU for whenever I'm there.

Idk, actually typing out my schedule gives me hope that things will get better. I've been so stressed about juggling everything but that seems like I'll have enough time with my older son and at the NICU and still enough time to sleep too. Whew!
If you read this, I'm sorry lol

I think you'll get in a routine. Please make sure you eat and drink enough though. Otherwise your milk supply is gonna struggle   *hugs* it'll be ok mama. The sweating and weeping as is all normal hormonal effects after birth.

Hi ladies. Im laura and i had my 35 Weeker scarlytt jan 25. I am getting into counseling cause I think I may have some PTSD from my whole experience. It's been almost 2 weeks and I can't even talk about it without crying. I don't sleep. I'm constantly holding her cause I'm deathly afraid she's gone die. I'm overly hypersensitive about every cry thinking she's having a medical emergency. She's choked on milk twice and turned blue. We called ems the first time. Did anyone else have struggles like this?
