Quoting Christina/Chrissy:" he is so cute......I had my micro preemie at 25 weeks 6 days....she was 1 lb 13 oz and 13.5 inches ... [snip!] ... toward the end to help with her vocab....but now she is a walking and non stop talking toddler! they are amazing!!!!!"
Thank you :-) They really are amazing. Eli has been getting early intervention since the week he got home and is doing so well his OT only comes out once a month for a visit. He babbles and plays, can't sit up on his own yet but will tolerate his bumbo for 5-10minutes at a time. We are working on tummy time right now, he's not happy about it but it's one of those necessary things to make sure he is on target. The child development specialist working with him thinks he should be caught up well before 2yrs. His adjusted age is just over three months and he wears3-6mo old clothing so i take that as a sign he is growing well :-) I sometimes think that preemies actually have an advantage over term babies because they start their socialization far earlier than term babies, if only they didn't have to go through so much medically.

I think that is the best way to pick a name. My husband didn't get much say in his daughter's name b/c his ex was a bit controlling so i wanted to make sure he had a lot to do with naming his son. We made a list and he picked the first name and i picked the middle and we ended up with Elijah Jacob. I have to say it suits him :-) <3

Hey Ladies!
I have an almost 2 week old preemie. She was born July 24th at 31 weeks. She was recently taken off all of her tubes and iv's, and is currently just on a feeding tube. She is my third little one. I had her early due to high blood pressure the last 2 weeks before having the c-section. The day she was born my liver began enlarging and my dr ordered an emergency c-section. I thought reading this thread about preemie's would inspire me and give me hope, but I believe I am just discouraged beyond belief. I'm finding it harder to pump any milk for her and I believe I am just discouraged. I just want my baby home, and have no one to talk to. I apologize if this post seems whiny.. I'm just exhausted from putting on a brave face for my kids every day.

Hi ladies! I had my 27 week 2 day old preemie on 8/9/12 due to Pprom on 6/30/12. I spent 40 days on hospital bedrest and had him via emergency Csection due my baby having heartrate decels due to cord compression. He was 1 lb and 10 ozs and 12.5 inches long. He has made major progress since when he was first born. He is currently on 6 liters on a high flow nasal canula after being on vent for the first few days. He has been weaned off his blood pressure medicine and off antibiotics. Also is off of his light therapy and being feed 2ccs/every three hours and digesting that well. I have just began my NICU journey and has been quite scary. Im just glad for the great nurses and doctors that have helped me to get here and are getting me thru this next chapter. This is all new to me, I have two other children who were full term babies.
