hello ladies, I have been MIA. Taking care of my 16 month old preemie who is quite the chunker. He is doing really well. Most of you probably dont remember me. But after Nehemiah was in the hospital for 7 1/2 months he was finally released wtih a trach and on the vent. We are now in the pocess of getting him off the vent. Cant wait to say good bye to the trach. But he weighs a whopping 19lbs 11oz. He is starting to out grow his 9 month clothes, and man is he getting heavy. Ill have to post pics some day. He is my little love.

Thats so great Sara, ive been watching for updates on FB, hopefully he can get off the trach soon!! He is so cute!!

I love the idea of having a preemie moms chat thread. My little girl came at 36 weeks and 6 days and was just born on July 7, 2012. She is doing well but she had some issues when she first came into the world. It is a nice thing that we have other ladies that have had premature babies and that we can talk to. Hope to talk to some other ladies who had preemie babies.

So I haven't been on in so long and i have never posted here, but do y'all think my 14 month old preemie should still be in 3-6 month clothes??? Im getting worried about FTT but none of his doctors will listen to me!! Any one have this issue?

I never much communicate in this thread either because my 34 weeker did not have issues really so i can not relate to what many of these women have gone/going through. However she is now 13.5 months and still in 3-6 and 6 months clothing. We also have been seeing a feeding specialist because her weight gain is very very slow and can go months at a time with 0 weight gain. She also has a congenital heart defect that affects her growth.

He always has trace amount of weight gain but rarely and i dont undersand my son is a beast when it comes to eating. But i look at the tag one my favorite onsie to put him in and 0-3   we just moved to ok from tx so hopefully the new pedi will be able to ease my mind.

I'm in!!! Hi my name is Samantha, I recently had my baby girl she was born at 24 weeks and 5 days, she weighed 1 lb 10 oz and is still in the NICU. She is now 6 almost 7 weeks old, my due date was september 12th 2012. She is a fighter her name is Miss Kayla Mae and she is now at 3 lbs 2.2 oz and is growing like a weed, she is currently getting winned off of her oxygen and is up to full feedings, she is doing really well, I love her to death and this thursday when i go up to see her I'l get to hold her for the first time I'm so excited.

Sounds like she is doing great   I remember holding my little man for the first time, it was magic! Ask to kangaroo with her and it will be right there that everything falls into place  )

I know how that is i had placenta previa, my placenta was falling apart and i had a infection in the placenta thats why my daughter was born early.

Yes i did do kangaroo care she was awake when i had her and when my husband had her she fell right asleep, she was looking straight up at me and then she would make little noises and come to find out that she was really gassy , i got to change her diaper and put some clothes on her, she is so cute and she looks so much better then she did when she was born.

I know how it goes with them looking better later than when they were born. My son was 27 weeks 1 day and weighed 1lb 9 oz due iugr and pre e. We didnt get to dress him till about week 8 or 9 out of our 11 week stay in the nicu. He was exactly 5 lbs when he came home.

Hi..new to the thead :-) I have a 6 month old baby boy. He was born at 25weeks and 4days on january 20, 2012. he weighed 1lb13.5oz and was 13.5 inches long. he stayed in the NICU for 80 days. He wa 5lbs9oz when we brought him how April 9th (21days before his due date) and now weighs 13lb4oz. he is a chunk monster. He ddn't have any major problems when he was born. He had a grade 1 brain bleed that resolved on its' own, stage 1 ROP which resolved without any surgery, and BPD which he is still on caffeine citrate for. He was on the vent for about 5 weeks, CPAP for 2, high flow for 1, low for 1 and was off any O2 before he came home. Looking forward to getting to know some other preemie mommas. He is my firs baby, definately not what i expected as far as how my pregnancy unfolded. here are couple pics of Eli.

he is so cute......I had my micro preemie at 25 weeks 6 days....she was 1 lb 13 oz and 13.5 inches long as well!!!!
she also had a grade 1 brain bleed......ROP- got pretty close to needing surgery, but thank god didnt.....she also fought through NEC......
its a shame I cant remember how long she was on the vent, CPAP and other breathing help.....
She spent 69 days int he NICU and came home exactly 1 mth before her due date at 4lbs 11oz......

she is NOW a SOON TO BE 2 year old on september 19th!

she is NORMAL....no delays.....she recieved early intervention starting 2 weeks after she came home and had physical therapy for 17mths and a 4 moths od special instruction toward the end to help with her vocab....but now she is a walking and non stop talking toddler!

they are amazing!!!!!
