Have you looked into SSI? I receive this for my son being born prematurely, under a certain weight, etc. I don't work either; only SO does and it basically supplements his income.
If you're unable to work due to caring for your son, I would definitely check into it. It's not much but it does help!
Go to the social security website or contact your local SS office and set up an interview. They will probably tell you what to bring but I brought my son's discharge papers, any medical bills, diagnosis, my SO's last 4 weeks of pay stubs and my son's SS card. From there, they'll assess your case and determine if you're eligible, which I'm sure, with you having a micropreemie, you will qualify.

Oh, yes, I do remember those days and it is hard to keep track of everything you need to do. I'd just call and tell them there has been a change and you would like to update your file. Usually they will do it over the phone but have you send proof of the change.
Btw, your son is a handsome lil man.
I usually am in and out on here during the day; I wait until my son is napping--which he's doing now, thank God!--or asleep for the night when I have a few hours to devote to getting on the computer. But, if you need someone to talk to or ask questions, etc, I'm here, mama.
When my son was born, I was so bitter regarding the whole situation. I didn't have anyone to talk to who was experienced in having a preemie and frankly, most people don't understand what we go through, so I was basically on my own. Now, in a way I'm thankful for it because I've met some wonderful people while riding the NICU rollercoaster.
I've dedicated my life to the research, advocacy and support of premature birth. I have a medical background and try to learn as much as I can about the complications, diagnosis, procedures....anything dealing with preemies. I am a member of several preemie support groups--online and irl--and I enjoy helping those going through what I soooo badly needed help with when I was going through it.

Hi Everyone, I found this forum when someone picked up on something I wrote about Kangaroo Mother Care. It's the way we are handling preemies these days and they do ever so much better when they can be kept skin to skin with Mommy. I want to post a link to it here and and not sure how, but here's trying... Looks like it worked! Warn wishes all!

It is bittersweet.
I think I remember you posting something about him being a 24 weeker? That's saying a lot, considering things have changed medically since then; he's a miracle. How is doing today, any residual effects from him being an MP?
My son was a 24 weeker too. They wanted us to discontinue care on him because of his issues but thankfully we didn't. I wouldn't have my lil hellion that I love so much now! lol
