I just kept pumping less and less a day that eventually I pumped omce a day for a few days, and then I stopped. It never hurt. And I'm pretty sure warm water stimulates milk production...not cold.
Hope that helps!

Ok I need some help here. Some info to get started..
Lilly is 6 weeks old
on soy based formula and has always been (similac Isomil)
has acid reflux and takes Zantac for it
Only has BM about 2x a week (hard stool)
Ok so we tried the juice for the constipation, which made the acid reflux worsen so we got zantac and stopped the juice. Now she has developed some colic at night and it looks so painfull. I know she isn't hungry and Mylacon doesn't help and niether does her paci or rubbing her belly. I feel like I am trapped here. I have tried everything. Some moms say use The Enfamil AR but it causes constipation which we already have a problem with. We are already using soy formula, and can't use juice obviously.... I am just repeating myself in a call for distress now.... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

That is exactly how Cora used to be. We switched to Similac Alimentum and it's made a world of difference. She's like a new baby. It's hypoallergenic with no cow or soy milk.

And suppositories for the constipation every few days until she get's the "hang" of it. It worked for Cora... maybe it'll work for you.

i need some advice. My son is 4 weeks old, he has been on formula for 3 weeks. He seemed to be doing fine (other than a lil bit of constipation) until a few days ago. He is constantly grunting and straining and upset. He was getting constipated so my dr told me to give him 1 oz of water with a pinch of brown sugar twice a day until he is pooing normal. Well i do that and the next day his poo is normal, but if i dont give him the water for one day, it gets all clay like and a bit dry. I dont want to be giving him water every day because he is still so young. He also sounds mucousy in his nose and chest right after a feed and sometimes it sounds like his nose gets blocked, but its not runny so i dont think he is sick or has a cold. He also ALWAYS has to have his dummy (paci) unless he is feeding. I am just wondering if maybe it could be an allergy?? I know I had to be put on a soy formula when I was a baby.

Thanks for your advice! We actually switched her to the alimentum tonight, so we will see how she does. For her sake I pray it works. It did with my other two kids. Anyway thanks again.

Lately, Cora is a freakin PIGGY! She used to eat 4 oz every 5-6 hours, but now she wants 4 oz every 3 hours. I tried giving her 6 oz to see if it would keep her full between feeding but she won't drink 6 oz in a single feeding.

Any tips on how to make her last long between feeds? She is on Alimentum and is almost 3 months old.

When my daughter was switched to Alimentum I started introducing baby food to keep her full I would feed her apple sauce in the morning & baby oatmeal with cinnamon in it to keep her full. She would go through bottles like nothing & with the formula being almost $30.00 I had to do something. Now she has 4 6 oz bottles a day of formula & eats baby food 3 times a day & has juice once in the day. But it wont work over night it will take some time to get her to eat baby food she will start to spit it out the first few days.

How old was she when you started baby foods? She will be 3 months on the 16th. She goes through so much formula.. about 4 cans in 15 days! I'm gonna ask her pedi about it today cause we are going there for another issue.

She was 2 1/2 months when I started her on baby food. Shes 4 months now & is fine. I have her on wic & they only issue out 6-8 cans a month & thats not enough to survive on a month without substituting something else with formula.

Hello ladies, I have a question for you. My son is 13 days old and he already is a little pigglet! He drinks 3 to 3 1/2 ounces of Enfamil formula, every 3 to 3 1/2 hours. I was wondering how often did you feed your baby? Every 2, 3 or 4 hours? My first baby was every 4 hours on the dot, and this one starts being hungry after 3 hours, sometimes even before that. I guess they're all different!

Logan was eating between 2-3 ounces every 2 hours when he was that young..
One the first page there is a lil table that gives you an idea of how much the baby should eat..

I too was wondering about the feeding chart as well... My son is 9 days old, and we started out BFing, but he was 11lbs7oz at birth and my body just hasn't been able to catch up. He gets hungry fairly regularly on the 3 hour mark, but he's drinking 4 oz each time. Some feedings, (particularly overnight when he is more awake... yes Zach's a bit nocturnal these days, who can blame him with parents who work 3rd shift, lol) he will take more, even up to 6oz.

According to that chart, for his age, he shouldn't be eating that much. I've always gone by the mantra, with both my kids, "If they are hungry, feed them." I've always gone by their cues, and given them what they needed. But my 1st was a preemie, and so he needed to put on the weightl (though at two and a half, he's still tall and slender)

So, am I doing OK, feeding Zach more because is a big, hungry baby, despite his age? Or should I not be letting him have as much? Also, for some of you who had larger babies, did you find yourselves offering baby food sooner? My mom says I was 8lbs5oz (though 23 years ago that was huge, apparently) and she was giving me cereal at two weeks.

You know...I think you should just go with your instincts!
My son is 6 weeks, he was 9lbs 5oz at birth, and weighs about 13+lbs now, and he eats 6oz at a time, about every 4-5 hours.
According to that chart, its to much, but our babies weigh more than then average babies at that (these) age(s).
Talk to your pedi, as long as he/she isnt concerned about it, then neither should you!
My mom, and the pedi have a rule about food, that I like...
Once they can finish a bottle of 8-9oz and still go back for more, thats when you introduce solids. Its not necessarily about age, but what satisifies them. Big babies need more food, and a liquid diet isnt always going to satisfy a baby that big.
