Once it is made, I don't leave a bottle out for longer than an hour. If he doesn't start to eat it by then, I stick it in the fridge.

so, is formula just more susceptible to bacteria and stuff? it just spoils faster than breastmilk or something? cuz it seems like there are alot more guidelines for it than for feeding a child breastmilk with a bottle.

"Breastmilk can safely stand at room temperature for 6 to 8 hours and need not be discarded if the first feeding attempt is incomplete. In contrast, formula must be refrigerated and discarded after the first feeding attempt because it contains no antibodies or infection protection factors."

To use concentrated formula you have to make the WHOLE can. So it'll usually come out to about 26 ounces I think. Just put it all in a pitcher and leave it in the fridge. The pre-make your little bottles. =) That's what I do

does the teething tablets affect anything in my daughter's formula? I've been giving her teething tablets in her formula since shes been teething but does it affect anything thats in her formula or make it where I have to get rid of that milk before an hour if she hasn't finished it?

It shouldn't. Why are you putting them in her formula? They will dissolve within a couple seconds in her mouth.

She won't choke on them, they dissolve. But no, it shouldn't mess with the integrity of her bottles.

My baby is 12 days old and i started her out on the breast..which was horribble due to my inverted nipples, so i started pumping and that wasnt enuff milk, plus i was skepticle about feeding her my breastmilk while i was on narcotic pain meds (percocet ) so i started her on Enfamil lipil with iron..well i started to notice that she has gas all the time now..she is a little fart machine and she is super fussy...my question is should i try switching to soy? what are some signs that she might be lactose intolerant? i hate seeing her in pain from her gas..any advice please?

If she was lctose intolerant she would have severe runs, she would be spitting up her formula, have lots of gas, extremely fussy & she would be extremely tired because her body is so out of wack. My daughter had to be put on Similac Sensitive because Soy has a little bit of lactose in it & it really made her sick. But your doctor has to determine that they are in fact lactose intolerant but try Similac Alimentum it is made for babies that have severe colic & gas issues. If that doesn't work then go to the doctor & explain to them whats going on then they will give you many samples to try your daughter on til you find the right one.

If you haven't tried Mylicon drops yet, try those. They are for gassy babies. Completely safe for newborns. And try a formula just for gassy babies--Enfamil Gentlease, Parent's Choice Gentle, etc.

You really should switch to soy only under a doctor's advisement, so try calling your doctor and see what they suggest.
