I'm sure he'll get it mama! Have you tried just handing to him and seeing what he does?

I have a question about Similac Alimentum: We started it at the advisement of LO's doctor and it's helped with his fussiness and constant complaining so we're sticking with it but I've realized he's pooping more, is it normal or has anyone else had this happen too? Gosh I wish the stuff didn't smell so terrible, it makes me gag when I feed him because I can smell it.

How long has he been on it? It's normal for their tummies to get kind of crazy when they change formulas.

He's only been on it 24 hours so far, I guess that could be it just the adjustment.

I bet it is. I say give it 2 weeks and if he's still going a lot call his pedi. Good luck!

Ok I've been trolling and you ladies seem to know what your talking about when it comes to formula. I have an issue. My daughter is only a week and a day old. She is eating 2 oz (sometimes in between 2-2 1/2 oz) every 3 hours to get her weight back up. She is on Similac Advanced. Now I understand that babies spit up, its normal, but usually once a day she like throws up everything in her stomach, like its not just spit up, its straight throw up. I dont know what to do, we dont go to the dr till monday. I've tried just feeding her just 2 oz and sometimes she is satisified with that and sometimes she isnt and acts like she is still hungry so I will give her just a little bit more and she throws it all up. Also she isnt just throwing up when I feed her a little bit more, sometimes she will do it even when I just give her 2 oz. What do you ladies think?

If it's actual throw up and not liquid spit up, she probably needs a new formula. Like Similac Sensitive or Alimentum, which is for protein allergies. Does your LO cry after she eats or before she pukes? That can be a sign of reflux and your pedi can prescribe meds if necessary or switch her to a formula that's thickened with rice starch.

we are now also on alimentum, it has helped so much. the gerber goodstart but it hurt LO's tummy so bad. they changed him to nutramigen which stinks to high heaven and gave him a rash around his anus that bled. he was so pitiful. tnow he is thriving on alimentum and has moved to 5oz every 3hours. we have also started on baby food. he is eatin a small jar of green beans once a day before bed time. we also do one tbsp of cereal mixed with formula for breakfast. he is a champ with the spoon. he opens his mouth in anticipation of the next bite.

No she doesnt cry before or after, she just kind of projectile vomits all over herself and me and then dozes off back to sleep for about 15 min before shes like hey I just threw everything up Im hungry again and wants another 2 oz lol thats what I was thinking, that maybe she needs to be on the Similac Senstive

Poor baby! I hate when they puke everything up, it gets everywhere! I'd def ask her pedi about switching to the sensitive stuff. When she pukes is it around the same time everyday?

No its pretty much whenever, last night was kind of scary though cause she threw everything up then I waited for her stomach to settle and she wanted 2 more oz and she puked half of that back up. I feel so bad for her cause then shes hungry again and I get scared to feed her more cause she might throw it back up. We go for her first dr appt on monday so I am deff going to mention it to her cause I hate seeing her throwing up, and not only that I really dont care to be thrown up on everyday lol shes worth it though. we had a rough night last night, with her throwing up and then she pooped and right when I opened her diaper to change her she like shot poo all over me lmao she went through 2 different sleepers and I had to take a shower at 4 am lol

Ew lol. I don't miss that part of the newborn days
I'm sorry you guys had a rough night! Hopefully she does better today. You can call her pedi and ask about switching, that's what I would do just because you want her to have food in her tummy.
Do you think maybe she only wants an ounce? Have you tried giving her a paci after she eats? My daughter used to want to suck all the time so I'd give her a bottle almost every time she cried. She would suck it down really fast then puke it up like 10 minutes later. Then I started giving her the 3 oz she could handle and the paci after her feeding.

yea she will take her paci sometimes after she eats if she is full but other times she will like gag on it or spit it back out and cry until I give her more formula. I know if I only give her an ounce she will start crying within like 5 min of me feeding her. Sometimes she does good on 2 ounces, sometimes she will throw it up and sometimes its like not enough for her. idk. shes done good today though just spit up a little bit and that was it.
