Pumping question..

posted 10th Mar
my daughter will be 5 days old tomorrow...I pumped last night and this morning, I was able to get 2 ounces combined from both sessions and from both breasts. is this a normal amount that I was able to pump or should it be more?

That's pretty good! The more you breastfeed the more you make!

That sounds like a good amount! I think that's about how much I pumped with my son when he was a few days old.

Thats good. Be careful about pumping much at first, unless your baby is having difficulties latching and you have to pump. Its best to get your milk established first

I think the first few times I pumped, I barely got an oz. combined, so that's about right.

That's about right for how old she is. You won't have a whole lot in the beginning.

yeah, i'm done pumping for a couple weeks... i'm still getting used to breastfeeding and I will be out tomorrow so I wanted to make sure I had something to give her and don't know if I will be brave enough to whip it out lol. she goes between breast and bottle amazingly but I think it's because I've been using a nipple shield to feed her though..

everyone is different. me and my baby were both in the hospital or almost a week and he was in nicu. i didnt get to breastfeed but when i pumped i had a smurf load of milk i mean like 12 oz from on breast. but you know what works and my babys pedi suggested this to me. HE told me to breastfeed and pump at the same time. yes i know it sounds weird or impossible to do but it's possible. f i can do it with 38 DDD breast then you sho8uld be able to do it to. When you do this it lets your other breast come down. It tells your brain to let your other breast ease up i guess. but i should have know this from the start bc when i did breast feed my other breast would bubble up and get all lumpy and leak like crazy. good luck. of and you should o in the toddlers breastfeed thread since they might know more then the new moms in the infant breastfeeding thread.
