Heyy well here is an idea... (what I have packed and was told I should have)

My bag:
For nursing: a gown made for nursing mothers
robe
breast pads
breast lotion
slippers
change of cloths
going home cloths (something comfortable)
warm socks
few pairs of undies
pads (they provide them)
chap stick
nursing bras
brush
toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deoderant...etc.)
mints
camera and charger batteries
mp3 (for you or partner)

I may be forgetting some things that is off the top of my head...

BABY bag:
going home outfit
onsies
socks
blankets
hats
diapers (they provide)
binkies
sleepers
swaddle blanket (if you want)

I also am bringing my breast pump

I may have forgot some stuff... but have fun packing!

Everything on her list.

plus:

a blanket for me(I get cold in the hospital)
Cards
Pen, Pencil, Paper,
Birth Plan
Hair brush
razor
alot of undies(like 6 pairs)
I did sports bars cause of comfort.

I packed a couple of like pj's to wear.
I didn't pack going home cloths for me cause when I had my son I just went home in what I wear to the hospital. But I also went staright home. So you if have a quick stop or something I would but I went home so i didn't care. I just changed when I got there.

But this is how I packed it:

But I have like a rolling suitcase that has a pocket on the side. I made it my labor bag and that has my:
Brith Plan
Chap stick
Cards
Hairbows
pens, pencils, paper

And then In the acutally suitcase part I put:
Another suit case (for all the things that I need to take home for her)
blanket
socks
breast pads
night gown
pjs
underwear
toilertries
robe
sports bras

Now what I learned about the baby bag is that you really don't need one like you need on for yourself. Cause the hospital really supply most of it. But what i am packing for her is a come home sleeper, oneie, hat, boodie/sock, handthings(??) They have blankets. And a picture outfit. And that is all. And that is in a bag in my bag. I think they have breast pumps you can use at the hospital, but someone is going to bring me mine.

And that should be in your car!! LOL! UM I didn't acutally put mine in, but when I was discarged hubby brought it with him. And they did a test on it before they discharged us!! I think they did it the day before. So I asked him. But there is no need to put it in your car because you have to take it to be tested when you have the baby anyway!

We didn't have to have ours tested. They asked us when they escorted us out if we had one, if we knew how to use it, if we had any questions, and said after all this that if we didn't have one, they had one they would provide for us. But since I'm a preparations type girl, I'd already talked to the fire department about the car seat I bought (after much research and deliberation) and they made sure I knew how to install it properly. So it's different in every state.

Something else you may want to pack is your favorite snacky foods and drinks. Gatorade is wonderful and the snacks are good because you're SO or parent can slip you a bit of it during labor and you can have it after you deliver. I found it most useful after I delivered because the hospital food was good, but the meals weren't frequent enough. So I needed something to munch on.

And I'll also mention this little thing to remember: What you take to the hospital is what you have to take home...plus a new bundle and some things that the hospital will provide you with.

Have fun packing! I packed and repacked my bags about 30 times before we actually went to the hospital.

OH YEAH! Don't forget dads stuff! Change of clothes, books, portable dvd player, phone number list, and anything else he needs. Really don't forget the dads...it makes them feel special and important that they have part of your bag or even their own. Not to mention, you don't want them to have to go home to get their stuff because you didn't think of it. *That's what happened to me and my husband with our first*

Also remember for the dads to bring some ones or change for the vending machine, or snacks from home. You may not be able to eat, but he'll sure get hungry.

And Im not sure if it was said, but remember chapstick, gum, or something to suck on while in labor bc you cant eat. I packed gum and jolly ranchers.

Wow! Where are you from? Cause I don't want to go there! The hospital I deliver at will give you diapers (about 5 days worth), a diaper bag, formula for a week if you aren't breastfeeding, nipple coolie things if you are nursing, blankets, baby tshirts, binkies, those little nose sucker things, a hair brush, and a bunch of other stuff. Not to mention your own private room no matter if you have the best insurance in the world or you're on medicaid. I freaking LOVE that hospital!

your lucky you get a lot of stuff private room and all. I'm from a little island in the caribbean. This is my first baby but my sisters and friends have babies and they have to walk with everything. My cousin had twins 2 years ago and only thing she got free was some pampers from a visiting church group. You have to pay for everyday you stay in the hospital and you pay according to which section ur in. As to getting a private room its $175.00 per day (I checked) and you have to pay for up tp 3 or 4 days in advance. THey bill you for everything else; labs, anesthetics all that stuff and u get the bill when ur leaving the hospital. I have insurance but I'll still have to pay then claim from my insurance. Its hard so most people dont even pay their bills.

I'm gonna stay in a private room and i have all my babystuff covered so im almost good to go just have to finish pack my stuff

You're right. I AM lucky. This hospital isn't like a hospital at all. It's like a hotel for pregnant women to give birth in. Great food, good nurses and doctors, lots of free stuff, great nursery care, most up to date technology and instruments, beds in the rooms for the dads to sleep on, just...*heavy sigh* I'm so glad that's where I'm going again.
