grr I'm down to one bag left of frozen breast milk, still my LO is refusing to drink from a bottle. So much wasted milk! How many do formula while you are away from your LO? What type is the best for a nurser or does it matter?

I do! I work three days a week, a total of 26 hours. I don't get milk when I pump, so I use organic similac.

As for bottles I've use everyone, all but the breast flow bottles caused her nipple confusion. She will also sometimes drink formula from a nuk
sippy cup.

She is 7 months btw.

So do I. I'd rather be feeding the baby instead of smelling his clothes.

With Jae, good start was the only one she could handle. Honestly, I think it depends on the baby.

My baby hates the breast flow bottles. He sucks so hard, and hardly anything comes out.

Really? DD doesn't necessarily like them, but she does well with them. With any other bottle we've used (playtex drop ins, Tommy tippee's, nuk bottles, cheapo bottles) after she drank from them when she went back to the breast she'd try to suck it like a bottle and would be aggravated because she wasn't sucking hard enough for milk to come out.

THankfully it hasn't caused nipple confusion like playtex, but he gets frustrated with those.

If baby has diarrhea, would going on the BRAT diet help him? He's had it for 2 days now, and he's broke out with a bad rash. Idk what to do for him other than drink a lot of water to make sure he stays hydrated and is getting enough fluids from me. I'm wondering if I could eat something that would hopefully get passed through my milk to help him out.

Nothing you can eat will help that, that I am aware of. Sorry momma.

yeah I don't think so. Like say you drank a ton of orange juice to try and give him some extra vitamin C, well your body only takes what it needs to make milk so you will get all the extra vitamins and not baby. BUT, your body will automatically know when your baby is sick and will make antibodies to help them out. Your best bet is too continue your diet and nurse more often.

hmm I don't think I've tried that one. So far the most he's eaten is from a Gerber bottle. We've also tried Avent, Playtex, Tomme Tippe and Born Free. It's almost as though he doesn't know what to do, he just chews on them and if he does latch on to one he chokes out. So I dunno, it's frustrating.

Thanks ladies. Guess I'll just keep drinking a lot of water and watch him closely for signs of dehydration.

Quoting Love Wedge +2:" So my son will be 4 months old next week. He's EBF. His dad lives about 2 hours away and wants to start ... [snip!] ... he goes away for the weekend. Or lose my supply because he's not BF on demand. Any other suggestions or tips would be helpful."

Keep in mind baby needs 1-1.25oz per hour away from breast. This number will NEVER change. As quality changes in breast milk instead of quantity as baby gets older unlike formula. So calculate how many hours baby will be gone and times that by 1.25oz and that will tell you how much to send, plus baby may be eating solids then to. ;) Also nurse before pick up and right when baby gets home. To answer your question about pumping: pump every 2 hours for 15-20min.
