yes, when my son is awake he'll nurse every 1-2 hours for about 10-20 minutes.

it's normal in the sense that its not really a concern if he's still gaining weight well. But it could mean that your pumped milk doesn't have as much fat in it as when he is on the breast, causing a bit of an imbalance. You can try to pump longer to get out more hind milk or when you are nursing you can start block nursing, that might help.

At 8 weeks, yes.

My son is 7 months.

It's when you offer the same side for 2, 3 or more consecutive feedings. It helps the babes get all the hind milk instead of always filling up on fore milk. I usually block feed at night with one side and then in the morning with the other. Afternoon and evening we switch sides per feeding.

I block feed at night but not intentionally. I dont want him rolling out of bed so he always gets the same boob. Lol.

lol I use the boob that isn't so forceful at night so he won't wake up with all the chugging.

Should I be doing that?

I've been switching each time.

you don't have to but if you are concerned about green poops you can try it and see if that helps. Consistently green poop may mean an allergy or imbalance. So if it works you know it was an imbalance. If it doesn't work maybe try eliminating dairy from your diet? Either way if baby is gaining weight well it's only a minor concern.

I have a question ladies,
my son is 5 days old today and since yesterday he has had green runny poop. i read online that it means he is getting a mix of breastmilk and colostrum. This has been going on for since yesterday. how long should I expect this too last?

DS Is getting his first tooth! I feel sharpness when I rub his gum.

The thought of that tooth coming in makes my nipple hurt.

What colour/consistency should his poop be right now? It varies from a medium yellow to green at any given time.

So yesterday I went to a baby shower and ate a bunch of stuff I don't normally eat on a regular basis. Pickles, lunch meats, pop (in a punch), eggs, etc. My son was much fussier than usual and spit up quite a lot after the shower into the evening.

Regular foods can upset his tummy the same way dairy can, right?

Should I see how the next feedings go and if he's back to normal, chalk it up to something he didn't agree with. Or should I eliminate dairy from my diet and see if his spitting up stops altogether?

Also, after a feeding he needs to be upright and not moved around for a good half hour or he'll spit up quite a bit. Is that a normal thing or again, something in my diet?

One more thing lol. Is my son still considered exclusively BF if he gets a bottle on occasion? I have an MRI on the 8th and obviously can't nurse during that time. My mom will have to feed him pumped milk via bottle. Maybe a silly question, but I'm curious.

Thanks
