well first off, you'll want to introduce solids gradually. second, cow's milk really isn't made for humans and doesn't need to be given at all. I certainly wouldn't replace breastmilk with cow's milk.

not to mention, there is a big growth spurt at 12m (then another one at 15m, 18m and a HUGE one at 24m), so those are hard times to decide and try to wean or even cut out a feeding.

How do I stop my son from using his teeth when he unlatches? He had bit my nipple yesterday doing this and scraped it then continued feeding and when he was done there was blood all over his mouth and me not realizing what happened freaked out and thought he had ate something earlier from the floor or something so I called the paramedics and when they came I realized what happened lol.. We have been having problems with biting since he got his 6 teeth in. When he tries to pull off with his teeth I tense up and hold him on the boob until I can get my finger in his mouth or he lets go.

Made it to 6 months breastfeeding on the 2nd! I am so happy and proud of both Jamie and I. I have also started to get a good supply with pumping. I only use it for cereal seeing as he wont take a bottle or sippy cup. I have also started foods and he loves sweet carrots!

congrats!! i am 5 1/2 months but my suuply sucks especially while at work so he has had some formula but not much an d I plan to continue!!

I know morning sunshine is the best source of Vitamin D for LO, but what about when it's really gloomy and cold outside? How soon can I start giving DS some Vitamin D drops? He is a week old.

Ha, even if i wanted to give formula i can't he doesn't take anything but booby and some foods haha. But i don't want to give him formula anyway. I'd be fine with some pumped milk though. oh well

lol. I drink milk and eat ice cream and yogurt and cheese.
just trying to limit that for my kids. I tried to stop and it was just ick to try to replace it. I was also pg at the time though and didn't want anything else that I didn't LIKE.

you can give them Vit D3 drops, one drop /day as soon as you want. Just make sure it's ONLY Vit D3 and nothing else. If you have to give more than just one drop /day, then it's got crap in it that LO doesn't need.

They can still get sunshine and Vit D even when it's cloudy outside though, at any time of day.

Nice to know. And yes, it's only Vit D. We gave this to my older son too but I don't remember how young he was then when we started giving him the Vit D drops. Thanks!

I'm wso glad I had a natural foods store by me, they carry a nearly pure organic formula. Instead of a whole 1ml of Emfamil's crap, it has a serving size of 5 drops, slightly less than .25ml.

I only do 1 drop. I haven't heard of one that does 5 drops.
