Quoting Love Wedge +2:" So last month we had an appointment with Bub's pedi. He'd only gained 1 lb since the end of November, ... [snip!] ... I want to. I formula fed my daughter right from the start and she's super smart. I don't know why this bothers me so much."

Have you tried pumping and giving him that instead of formula?

I've been working from 7:30am till 12:30pm when SO brings my baby to work. I get to BF for 30 minutes more or less (SO is often late because of traffic or the bus or whatever) and then I work again from 1:20pm till 2:20. Once I'm off work I try to EBF.

But, I cannot seem to pump enough milk so Lucia has been getting a lot of formula while I'm at work. And now that they've changed my hours and really don't give me time for pumping (I'm supposed to have time to pump, but I have other duties that I have to do on my "down time" and when I brought it up with my boss I got a "manage your time better" bullsmurf), I'm pumping less so she is getting even more formula than before.

In the late afternoon she will be on my boob forever and get upset or frustrated and I feel like maybe I'm not making enough... or does she just miss my boob.

Usually if you can get in 8-12 nursings & or pumpings per 24 hrs you should be able to maintain supply. That is true even if you go those 5 hrs - as some babies will sleep 5 hrs, right? So if you are getting below that, you may be having supply issues for sure & that could be why she is fussy. Also - she is not much past 6 weeks, so you can just be getting growth spurt behavior as well.

I don't know what your job is, but I used to pump many times while multitasking, so I had a handsfree pumping bra & would go ahead & keep working & use that time to catch up on paperwork & such. Even if you only have 5 mins to pump, that is still better than nothing as far as stimulation is concerned.

And I've had those "you need better time management" ding hole bosses in my lifetime. They suck. I once went to my boss to talk about how all the duties they kept giving me were intereferring with my ability to actually do the job I was hired for (and for real, I was supposed to do the main job 30 hrs a week & fill in doing other stuff for 10 hrs a week, but they ended up scheduling me 40 hrs a week on the "fill in" work & then bitching I was behind on my main job, which they had allocated NO time for me to work on). So whatdoes she do after hearing me out? She forms a committee for employee morale & then announces that *I* will head it...me, and changes NOTHING about my schedule - so I get one MORE thing I am responsible for. Nice. Then they all act so upset with me when I found a new job & left.

I am SORRY you have someone doing that kind of smurf with you. It's hard enough as it is without that going on. At least I wasn't dealing with that after kids - that was an earlier job. It's got to be harder to do that when you have a baby. :/

Yay good job. My LO also weighed 6.12. I'm anxious for his 2 month weigh in but this lil dude never sleeps for me it seems and is always on my boob so he is gaining about a pound a week since his 2wk checkup. . We didn't have a 1 month appointment but I think he is nearly 11.5 pounds.. he is wearing me out . Today I was a super btch to everyone around bc he wouldn't sleep from 2am to 6am.. so at 6 I have him to DH to put him to sleep. . He fell asleep for him within 30 minutes by 630 and basically slept until 10am.. too bad I was driving kids to school and getting a heating compress for my boob... instead of sleeping.

Brayden has been a good sleeper but past 3 nights, he just wants to grunt, fart and eat. Such a boy! I have had 9 hrs of sleep total past 3 nights. He sleeps with me and sleeps from 9-12 the. Up from 12:30-5/6am then once I just say screw it I'm not going to get any sleep he falls back asleep in his swing. Lol. I think it's a growth spurt. I hope you get better fast. I just made coffee to stay awake, waiting for my older son to get up for preschool.

Last night was the same way. I tried his swing he just grunted non stop. He has been latched on almost all day past 4 days. Sometimes he cries and comes off. Don't know if he just wants to comfort suck or I'm not letting down or letting down to fast.I can't feel let down. When I pump I always hear it shooting out and see it shoot out.

Do some babies not like to comfort nurse?

When Bub is upset or crying or whatever he won't nurse to calm himself down. He'd rather be swaddled and walked around.

If he's really upset no, offering the boob makes it worse. But as soon as I calm him down some he will latch and be instantly soothed.

He's the same for sleeping, too. He'd rather fuss and be rocked/swaddled/hummed to sleep than fall asleep while nursing.

Which is mind baffling because he'll fall asleep on a bottle.
