Black Poop

She'll be 14 months old on the 24th.

Lastnight, my daughters last diaper change before bed was black sticky yet diarrhea like poop. She didnt poop again until just a bit ago and it was another diaper of black poop.

Normally, I only give her 'healthy' juice like V8 Fruit & Vegetable juice but the last two days she has drank some grape juice. (Before the black poop, she was pooping pellets) I chalked the first diaper up to being dark due to the grape juice but now im super worried.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it warrant a pedi call tomorrow morning or should I call/take her to the hospital now? I read black poop could be anything from eating iron rich foods (which she has had alot of chicken but she normally eats alot of chicken) to blueberries (she hasnt had) to internal bleeding (which is what has me freaking out...).

black poop usually indicates internal bleeding.

Enzo's poop is normally really dark (as u described) when he is teething..
I would call her pedi first thing in the morning to see what they want you to do..I hope it's nothing serious!

Im an EMT in paramedic school.

The color doesnt matter as much as the consistency.

Is the poop grainy? or look like black coffee grounds? because if so thats a BIG sign of internal bleeding and needs to be taken to the ER right now.

if its pretty normal in consistency, just darker, its probably something she ate/drank.

Its not grainy. Its just really dark. And hard to rub off her skin. Ugh, her father is a paramedic but he isnt home right now so im just freaking out.

lol. well anyways, if its just black, she should be ok as long as it doesnt look like coffee grounds.
You can call the pedi in the morning to be sure, but i dont think she needs to be taken to the ER.

if you see any bright red blood or coffe ground like poop- take her to the ER asap.

You were right... ...thank you..... and I looked at it again in better lighting and now im thinking its super dark green and super dark brown and im just freaking myself out. But id rather look like an idiot than risk my daughter having something wrong with her.  

and lol. Wow. Im going to have to tell my SO about that call.
