I was very sick the first 2 weeks of pregnancy and took Nyqu

I was extremely sick for the first 2 weeks of pregnancy, I didn't know I was pregnant, and I took a huge bottle of Nyquil and a box of Dayquil pills over those 2 weeks. I also drank and took other medication. I'm really afraid that my baby will have birth defects because of this. Does anyone know how dangerous it is to take Nyquil or has anyone taken it in their pregnancy for that amount of time and their baby came out fine?

I dont think youll have anything to worry about...if it caused any issues you wouldnt be pregnant still...that early in pregnancy tends to cause spontaneous abortions if the body even has a tad feeling something is wrong with the fetus...

Well I was in the same boat, I had a bad cold at the begining of my pregnancy, the first 2-3 weeks and didnt know....I took Dayquil Nyquil Bendryl and tylenol cold am and pm......(not all at once) but I didn't drink......and I'm 32 weeks now and everything is going great! Baby looks healthy and measuring perfect...so don't sweat it if you took it the way the label says, but make sure you let the doctor know at your first appointment, they asked me if i've taken any thing like that in the last month or 2.....

You're fine. Your LO will be fine. I had the same thing happen to me, I got very sick, and took NyQuil, and nasal decongestants, and my LO is perfect in there.

Also, the first two weeks of pregnancy, you aren't pregnant yet. Pregnancy is counted 40 weeks from the start of your last period. So the first week would be your period, then conception and implantation occurs. So counting this way, if you are 4 weeks pregnant, your LO is 2 weeks gestated.

That early on, it won't hurt the baby. At 5 weeks their major organs start developing. 5-10 weeks has the most risk. Even then, it depends on when and what you take. So you're good.  

Your baby should be fine. I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 3 months with my 1st ds and I did a whole lot more than take medicine. I was drinking smoking and doing lots of other things that i'm surprised didn't cause me to miscarry. I am so lucky and blessed that my ds was born healthy and is still healthy...but like I said and everyone else has said your baby should be fine and just let the doc know of the medications you were taking.

Also, your baby exists on its own...the placenta doesn't form until later, so there's no transfer between you and baby. Just mother nature's way of protecting the little one before you know it's there! Good luck...you should be fine!
