I wanted to thank you for sharing your story. I am going on Friday for my abortion, and my reasons are the exact same as yours, for the most part. I am absolutely terrified, but I know what I'm doing is the right choice for me, my 1 yr old daughter, and my bf. Your story has made me calm down, a little bit.

Again, thank you. I know many women who won't share stories like these. You are a very strong women, as well as many of the women who have posted in here.

Whoa, people have been replying to this and I didn't even know.   And now none of you will know I'm saying this, ha. Ironic.

i think your very strong, and this will help alot of others feel more comfortable having a little more information before going through it themselves, or even more comfortable about what they have already gone through. thank you for sharing. its very brave of you.

  Thanks, mama. Before I did it, I read stories online and they all said it was a horrible experience - mean doctors, cold nurses, lots of pain - but mine wasn't like that at all and I don't want other women in the same position to think it's always horrible.

Thank you for posting this, I really wish I had read it before I had my D&E done in a hospital. I would have chosen a clinic like the one you went to instead.

Since I needed one, in the sense that it was horrible that I lsot my son, yes. As for how I was treated, sort of the nurse was really nice but I was forgotten in recovery it felt like and they didn't bring my fiance in forever so I was all alone.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was a necessary procedure for you.  
In the clinic, we weren't allowed to have anyone go with us any farther than the waiting room so you would've been alone from the time you went in there 'til the time you left.

No, I live in MN, too and had my abortion at the same clinic as you and I didn't have to go in for counseling. They do the "counseling" when they call you and give you the federally mandated facts. Any further counseling that would be done has to be requested.
And I'm glad you had a good experience with your doctor. The doctor that treated me wouldn't believe me that I got pregnant while on the pill and didn't seem to care much about the pain that I was in. They were very busy that day and I got my 2 tylenol about 5 hours before they actually got me in for the procedure, so of course whatever pain relief they hold had worn off. And of course he had a large amount of medical students with him that day, so that makes a difference too.
I at least always made it into the bowl they gave me to throw up into, but all I can remember from the actual procedure is throwing up the whole time.
Well, anyway, again I am glad you had a caring nurse and a good experience.
